High Barn Recording Studio video feature

High Barn Recording Studio is based in North Essex and offers a unique recording space in the 12th Century wooden High Barn. In addition to the huge main recording space there are two nice sized recording rooms, both have direct line of sight to the control room.

High Barn is 20 minutes from Stansted airport and easy distance from M11 and M25 motorways. In addition to purpose built, professionally designed recording rooms, the unique acoustics of the High Barn makes a wonderful space for recording bands, orchestras and choirs. For recording live performance with an audience, microphones can be routed to the control room as well as to the live desk for music recording and surround sound DVD production.

huge recording space at high barn studiosThe huge High Barn recording space is pictured here when set up for a live performance. The tables and chairs move out and give amazing recording possibilities. The space is vast and only maybe a tad smaller than Abbey Road Studio One and comes complete with an excellent Yamaha Grand Piano.

Record producer and mixing engineer, Simon Gogerly, uses this space as it's conveniently nearby but we think that this recording space is an amazing find and we expect to see it used by many bands because of its excellent character and sound.

The Control Room is positioned between the recording rooms and the High Barn with good visibility between them. The equipment used is of high standard and the rooms were designed and were built by BL acoustics. The control room is set up for 5.1 monitoring and features a Yamaha mixing desk with the latest Pro Tools set up.

This is one of the most inspiring performance and recording spaces in the country, ideal for capturing a superb live studio performance or for the more regular style of sessions. The High Barn is an impressive Grade II* listed medieval property, providing an imaginative combination of an historic timber-framed building.

Refurbished to the highest standards in 2004, it provides a very attractive space creating a unique ambience. The incredible character and acoustics of the building have been preserved by constructing a new shell around the outside so that the timbers remain exposed internally.

This studio is ideal for filming, multi-track recording and broadcasting or streaming live music shows to the highest standards. Signals from the stage can be routed to the Control Room as well as to the live mixing desk in the gallery. The High Barn incorporates a full theatre lighting system with an automated desk! Pretty impressive.

This is a large, clean and bright Chill Out room with a modern kitchen and separate ladies and gents toilets. There are exposed beams, slate floor, a high ceiling and a glass wall that looks out over gorgeous countryside where there is some outside seating on a decked area with a bbq.

In addition to the music recording facilities, the live area is designed to seat about 200 people. The company also has a very busy video production company and create adverts for many major corporations including Mobil.

We really like this studio and hope that you can find time to pay them a visit!
