Adrian Hall

Video interview at Metropolis Studios, London

It's not often that you are chatting with a record producer and discover that he has a masters degree in maths and acoustic design! Adrian Hall took time out at Metropolis Studios to talk about his recent engineering and production work with artists such as the Black Eyed Peas and talks about his unique style.

We caught up with Adrian Hall at Metropolis Studio B.

Adrian is a producer, engineer and mixer with a wealth of experience working on all kinds of projects with artists at all levels of the industry, from worldwide household names to up-and-coming unsigned bands.

Equally at home tracking a live band with a studio full of musicians or being left to mix tracks on his own, Adrian is both a technically adept and creative engineer.

As a house engineer at Metropolis Studios from 1997 until 2004, Adrian had been a valuable member of the production team on many high-profile releases and coped with many demanding sessions. In addition, he has worked on a number of independent releases, producing the band involved, as well as handling tracking and mixing duties. Since going freelance, Adrian has formed a new production company, Chosen One Productions, to develop and nurture new talent.

Chosen One Productions is a new production company formed by its two partners, Adrian Hall and Jack Steven, with the intention of nurturing and developing exciting new talent. With Jack's keen ear for songs and vast A&R experience combined with Adrian's production, engineering and mixing expertise, Chosen One Productions has been involved in the development of many up-and-coming bands. Chosen One's first major project was The LoveGods (recent winners of Radio 1's Unsigned competition). Since then, Countermine, The Vibrants and most recently, Yankee 9-9'er, have benefited from Chosen One's guidance.

Adrian has worked with artists ranging from big names like Tori Amos, Depeche Mode, Goldfrapp, The Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys, Robbie Williams, Shakira and Robyn to more independent artists like Anna Calvi, Big Deal, Young Knives, and Amber Run. Most recently, projects that Adrian has been involved with include mixing the new “Ocean To Ocean” album (in both the original stereo and Atmos versions) from the legendary Tori Amos that charted at No.6 on the US Billboard chart, mixing Nakhane’s acclaimed album “You Will Not Die” for Sony BMG, a new album for Bess Atwell, an EP from Naomi Banks and the debut album from AA Williams, for Bella Union.

Adrian has mixed major live releases in both 5.1 and stereo for Depeche Mode, Robbie Williams, Shakira and Youssou N’Dour. He also mixed the incredible Philadelphia leg of the Live8 concert, which had a viewership of over one million people. The DVD features performances from legendary artists such as Stevie Wonder, Destiny’s Child, Bon Jovi, Maroon 5, Linkin Park, Keith Urban, Dave Matthews Band and more. Adrian’s studio is now equipped with a full 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos speaker system, for those projects that require Atmos delivery.

Adrian is represented by Zita and Alex at Z Management.
